In the city, the individual blurs, replaced instead by the masses, the throngs, the crowds of its populace, a collective stream of bodies and faces and individual journeys down sidewalks, across streets, in parks, on platforms, up stairs, and on the train.

Using the power of the camera and its manipulation of light, these photos aim to pull the individual out of their environment, elevating them from the background and into the viewer's consideration. Their existence, otherwise unnoticed, becomes noteworthy. Lit from behind, their features are obscured in shadow, emphasizing the space the body occupies within the city.
